We recently upgraded to SPSS 17 and have been having some odd issues,
such as messed up freq. tables

We are wondering if we should go to SPSS 16?

What have other users been saying abotu SPSS 17 vs SPSS 16?

Anything can help, thanks

Same goes with other new versions of any software. Bugs will always be
present! in my opinion. haha.

if switching to 16 is not aburden, i would to suggest that you
downgrade.

I have no experience in using SPSS 17.

First thing, be sure you have installed the patches to 17.0.2.  If
that doesn't clear things up, please post details.  I think there is
general agreement that v17 is much better than 16.

..and that v15 was better than both of them.

I bet there are some lurkers who would argue that it's been all
downhill since version 6.  :-O

I agree with Bruce, but only know from version 8.  Version 16 and 17
are not designed for people who are disabled, which is unfortunate.

Actually a large amount of work has been done in the area of 508
compliance.  There are keyboard mnemonics for almost every control in
the system.  Tab order is set for intercontrol navigation without
using the mouse.  The menus, dialogs, Data Editor and output windows
have been made accessible to screen readers for the benefit of the
blind.  Every UI design considers the needs of the disabled.  AFAIK,
the newest versions are more accessible to the disabled than any
previous verisons.  I can't say that the system is perfect, but it
isn't for want of trying.
