There is a perverse group aiming successfully to take control of
society in the past decades. I will call this group leftism, as I have
in previous posts, for lack of a better term: they deliberately do not
use any word for themselves that is not misleading. Leftism is not

minimum height of a 0-1 simplex10 Mar 2010 19:48 GMT6
What is the minimum height of a full dimensional n-simplex whose
vertices are members {0, 1}**n ?
Equivalently, what is the minimum non-zero distance to the origin from
a hyperplane defined by members of {0, 1}**n ?
Whitehead Groups of Short Exact Sequence10 Mar 2010 12:37 GMT-
Hello, all!
The Whitehead group of a group G, Wh(G), is a functor from the category
of (finitely presented?) groups to the category of Abelian groups. A
reference is _A Course in Simple Homotopy Theory_ by Cohen.
Do free abelian groups embed into connected semisimple complex lie     groups?09 Mar 2010 18:12 GMT1
Question:
Let A be a connected semisimiple complex lie group.   Is it true that
any free abelian group G of finite rank can be embedded in  A?
I know that it is the case that any free groups of finite rank can be

it's claimed on page 17 that the delta function defined on functions

Does anybody know whether it is possible for 40 golfers to play in
groups 5 for 8 weeks without playing with the same person more than
once? I found a solution to this problem, but I am in doubt…
Thank you all and any for eventual remarks.

Distance function for k-means clustering10 Mar 2010 14:18 GMT2
This question relates to my previous post, where I am trying an RBF
net for the first time.
For k-means clustering, the distance metric most often discussed is
the Euclidean distance (or its square). It seems to me you would need

Infinite worlds, Quantum indeterminacy, and The endlessly generative11 Mar 2010 01:26 GMT54
Modern science regards the universe as fixed, even if the number of
things that are fixed is "infinite" or "indeterminate". For example,
science's notion of infinite possible worlds and quantum indeterminacy
are all variations on a granular, fixed universe filled with fixed

JSH: Biggest mystery, pondering again hostility11 Mar 2010 04:19 GMT22
I've been curious for years about hostile reactions to my postings,

were working to block widespread acceptance of my research, which is a
concern which has faded.  It's not that I don't think negative claims
JSH: Why fame is lame11 Mar 2010 01:07 GMT6
One of the things that gets posters who argue with me more hot and
bothered than anything else is this notion that I'm trying to get
famous.  I'm not.  In fact, it's quite dangerous to get famous.  Or to
be a celebrity which is not necessarily famous in my opinion but is

prime residue axiom, and yes, posters can reply in the negative or
derisively, but there you see the difference between finding something
