Algebraic proofs30 Mar 2005 04:35 GMT1
Hello, all!
I need to prove the following:
a.  a^2 +b^2 + c^2 >= ab + bc+ ca
b.  ax^2 - (a+2b)x + b = 0 has at least one solution for all a and b.
Factoring question25 Mar 2005 02:44 GMT17
I need to factor the following:
x^4 + 4
So far I got
(x^2+2)^2 - 4x^2, but that is very lame...  I haven't come up with
Help w/ Graph Theory Proof24 Mar 2005 16:26 GMT19
Well, I think I may have screwed up a little. In looking at the problem it
doesn't make sense that it would be so simply false. There is a question
above it that goes like this:
"Suppose a graph G with n vertices has the property that G is isomorphic to
Combinatorics/Probability Question23 Mar 2005 03:28 GMT1
I needed to answer this question for help with Scrabble (of all
things), mainly for tournament play.  Below is the question in
simplified form:
I am having a birthday party and want to invite all of my n friends.
One more graph theory question23 Mar 2005 03:07 GMT3
Could you just check my discussion on this one and see if it explains what
the question asks it to explain.
Question: "Is there a graph with degree sequence 5,4,3,2,2,2. If no, explain
why, if yes draw the graph. Are there any other graphs with this degree

Volume Integration Problem09 Mar 2005 21:20 GMT29
I'm stumped with this one.  It seems like it should be easy,
but I keep making a horrible mess of it:
Assume p,q,r are positive constants.  Find the volume contained between
the coordinate planes and the plane

Evaluating an expression07 Mar 2005 09:49 GMT7
What is the maximum value of the expression ab/4(a+b)^2 when a and b
are positive?
I say that it approaches 1 when a and b approach 0.  Is there a more
precise algebraic expression (no calculus) that will show the maximum?
