Using the Midpoint Rule to find the area under a function30 Sep 2006 21:27 GMT4
The midpoint rule is..
          n
Area = E   f((xi+x(i-1))/2)(delta x)
         i=1
Introduction to bifurcation theory30 Sep 2006 18:33 GMT2
Does anybody have a copy of this paper that I could borrow? IT is kind
of pricey for a starving student such as myself.
A simple limit problem?30 Sep 2006 02:38 GMT3
I wonder if you could point me in the correct direction. I have to
prove a certain statement using just the definition of the limit of a
sequence. If a sequence x(n) has limit a then the square of the
sequence x(n)^2 has the limit a^2. I wonder if the correct direction is

Not too sure how to write hte problem here, so i'll try my best..

Microwave question28 Sep 2006 03:58 GMT1
Not sure where else to post this, but I was wondering if anyone knew
the answer to this
Let's say you microwave a bowl of soup, and put some food wrap over the
bowl. Why is it that after you take the soup out, the wrap has sorta
Differentiation28 Sep 2006 03:52 GMT2
I had a couple questions on a study guide my professor passed out related to differentiation.
f''(x) if f(x)=x^3/2-2x^1/2+4x^-1/2
I understand that its something like 3/2x but I dont know how the power changes with fractional exponents.
f(x) = 3sqrt(x+sqrt(1-x^2)).
How many concave quadrilaterals are in a 3 by n array?28 Sep 2006 00:36 GMT9
Let n be equal to or greater than 3.  The constant "3" is the number of rows, and n is the number of columns.
The 3 by n dots are in one plane.  Each of the four vertices of the concave quadrilaterals will coincide with
one dot in the array.  Looking at all possible orientations of ...
radians problem!27 Sep 2006 19:42 GMT1
If you want to find the angular space, (w) you use the formula w = v/r where v = linear speed and r = the radious. And that is m/s over m. So the meters would cancel out, leaving only seconds. But the answer is radians/seconds!! Where do the radians come from!!
please answer ...
Quadratic Equations27 Sep 2006 04:02 GMT2
Hi.. I've noticed most of the topics discussed here looks like advanced maths, or calculus. Im still struggling in algebra, so i have 2 questions i need to be resolved.
94. A square's side is increased by 3 yards, which corresponds to an increase in the area by 69 square yards. ...
Surface Area of a Spherical Quadrangle27 Sep 2006 02:32 GMT3
I am trying to find an algorithm for calculating the area of a quad on a unit sphere, given four unit vectors in R3 which all originate at the center of the sphere and define the 'corners' of the quad.
I have seen some mention of cross-products and arcsine, but haven't had any ...
Derivative of Ln26 Sep 2006 23:47 GMT4
Hey what is the second derivative of

A clue on limit solving26 Sep 2006 16:26 GMT5
Can anyone give me a clue on how to solve this limit:
lim x->0+ (ln3x)/(ln2x)
thanks

how many integer between a and b are divisible by c?26 Sep 2006 12:52 GMT3
How would one answer a problem like "how many integers between a and b
(inclusive) are divisible by c" where a, b, c are given integers.
Example:
how many integer between 100 and 999 (inclusive) are divisble by 7?
