FFT algorithm for a logarithmically-sampled time series31 Jan 2010 23:02 GMT2
does anyone know if there exists a C/C++, Fortran, or
Python library for calculating a Fourier Transform of a
logarithmically-binned times series? Unfortunately FFTW
C-library is only good for uniformly-spaced time series.

determining whether to elements intersect29 Jan 2010 14:39 GMT7
I have the following problem.  We have a potentially malformed mesh that
may have tetrahedron, hexahedron, and prism elements.  We have checks
for many of the possible mesh problems, but we are trying to find a
check to determine if two elements overlap.

Sequential sampling plan25 Jan 2010 17:10 GMT2
I wrote a C++ program to simulate the inspection of a lot using the
sequential sampling plan:

Following the NIST's example, I simulate a lot with exactly p1 defectives,
Secant Method22 Jan 2010 01:33 GMT9
I have noticed that many sources when they talk about the secant
method will give some sort of result (like a convergence rate) and
then add the caveat that this result holds "if the values chosen are
close enough to the root of interest". No quantitative condition
LAPACK & BLAS naming convention21 Jan 2010 13:41 GMT1
A Quick Question
What is the reason behind the naming convention of LAPACK and BLAS
functions ?
Why GETRF, GEQRF and SPOTRF for LU, QR and Cholesky factorization ?

ODE solver19 Jan 2010 22:10 GMT4
I'm looking for an ODE solver that is particularly suited to very large systems,
i.e. thousands to tens of thousands of equations.  I'm currently using the
Fortran90 version (by John Burkardt) of the code from Sandia (Watts and
Shampine) implementing "Low-order Classical ...
How to estimate the quality of template fits?18 Jan 2010 08:08 GMT3
A simple version of my fit problem is as follows:
I have a vector y of 100 measurement values, which I try to model with a set
of template vectors f_i (produced from a model via some complicated
function).
