Just saved an output file with SPSS17 and it seems SPSS continues the
saga of compatibility issues with outputs from previous versions.
What's the deal here ? How can I possibly view my "old" output files
with this 17th version ?

I'm new to the group, but not new to SPSS, and I'm stumped by this
problem.
I made some bar graphs using weighted data to show the % of yes
responses for each of 18 groups, with the mean shown as a line across

I am trying to use the 'select cases' command and specifying two
conditions using &. I am using "Filter out selected cases". The data
view shows the selected cases, but the command is not producing the
variable in the variable view.
